As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Which is great for people like me. When I’m lost for words, I can’t talk or write. Nothing serious, it happens when I’m overtired, usually after I’ve been focusing too long and hard on somebody else’s words. It’s the day job; editing articles by Dutch researchers writing in English for science journals.
When it does happen, not to worry. If I feel the urge to create, I’ll pick up a paintbrush and doodle away on a canvas. My ‘studio’ is in a corner of the kitchen-cum-dining room, with the skylight above shining down lovely clear, northern light.
I’m critical about my writing (and so I should be!) but long ago I gave myself permission not to be critical of my ‘self-expressionism’ and invented my own ‘school of fatalism’. Any stroke of the brush is predestined; my paintings don’t have to (try to) depict anything real; they can be acrylic expressions of… whatever. Think Doris Day: Que sera sera.
All this is by way of saying (writing), how much I enjoy visual expressions of the art of writing. In a word: memes. Here are some favorites that I found on Facebook. NB: please let me know if an uncredited meme is in breach of copyright. I’ll take it down at once.
Enjoy!

And of course, every once in a while, whenever appropriate, I can’t resist making my own visuals….
… because…
What memes do you like? I’d love to see them. Please share your favorites with me on Facebook at RaginiWerner/Author or at raginiwerner_author on Instagram. I might even shut up when I look at them.
